Increasingly, modern business suits are moving their pant pocket design away from the traditional slanted pocket and toward a vertical pocket, with the top of the pocket set further back along the waistband.
Like most things with clothing design, there really is no right or wrong choice – you just need to ensure that you cover off the practicalities.
For example, if you have big hands, you will have an easier time accessing a fat wallet from an angled pocket (but of course you shouldn’t keep a fat wallet in your pants anyway… not a good look!)
There is a school of thought that considers a vertical side pocket to be more formal than an angled pocket, and perhaps there is something to that.
But at the end of the day, it’s your suit, so just pick the option which makes you the happiest!
